How Are Chinese Paper Parasols Made?

Over at our sister site (The Stick & Cane Shop) we uploaded a rather interesting video on how crook-handled walking sticks are made, so we thought we should seek out a similar video relevant to umbrellas for our blog post this week at Brolliesgalore.

We found this superb video from Discovery Channel's programme 'How It's Made' which looks at the process involved in creating the ever popular Chinese Bamboo & Paper Parasols. From the assembly of the wooden frame to the lamination of the layers of paper used in its canopy, each paper parasol is indeed a work of handcrafted art!

So if you have a spare 5 minutes and if you have ever wondered how these lovely parasols are traditionally made, why not check out the video below!
