Today I thought we’d take a look at some of our more unusual umbrellas. As you may know the standard classic umbrella has 8 ribs, however quite a few designers and umbrella manufacturers are looking to the past and redesigning the 14 or 16 rib umbrella frames! Visually pleasing, the 14/16 rib umbrellas also have the added bonus that they are slightly more wind resistant than their 8 rib standard counterparts. We have many umbrellas that have extra ribs so keep an eye out for this.
These umbrellas give a more ‘circular’ footprint – okay, not exactly circular… for those who like specifics they would be tetrakaidecagons and hexakaidecagons respectively – but you get my meaning 
The extra ribs tension the canopy fabric in a way to create beautifully shaped taut canopies, for this reason a lot of gents umbrellas have 10 ribs to give a more traditional business umbrella look.
