Some of you might be aware that this week (Wednesday) marked the 116th anniversary of the passing of William Morris, who died on 3rd October, 1896. Not many people can attest to such a legacy after all these years, but Morris has certainly had a huge impact in the world of art and design as one of the central names of the English Arts and Crafts movement.
He truly was, in many ways, a polymath. With interests in politics, design, art, illustration, textiles, literature, poetry and translation, he transcended disciplinary boundaries and had a lasting impact on 20th century design, literature and politics.
His designs are what he is most well known for, particularly his intricate, floral and stylized wallpaper designs, which have seen a resurgence of interest in the past few years. Morris’ designs have influenced recent trends in the world of fashion and they are very much sought-after, providing a retro, yet modern, feel.

The ‘Windrush’ by Morris & Co. is a beautiful design to behold. It is a walking length manual umbrella by Fulton and a ‘must have’ for all William Morris fans. Cotton feel fabric sporting a fabulous Morris & Co print, with a button detail to the tie band and a second tie band for the tips.
